Woohoo!!! A place of our own, finally. We sign the lease on the 6th (awaiting the IRS refund so we can buy furniture and such) and than we will have our own apartment. Yet, it's just a 1 bedroom, and yes, it's not that big, but it's mine, and his, and his. No aunts, no In-laws, and I can kick out whomever I want. Plus, I can have people over. What good are friends if you can't invite them over to your house for snacks, games, or movie nights?? What good is wanting to cook for people if you can't do it??

Questions for you
here are the SP 10 questions. Hope that they help my partner with spoiling me. Just so you know, I'll be moving soon in the beginning of March, so please emial me and I'll give you the new address as soon as I know it. Thanks.
1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?
Cotton. I love cotton. Wool is good, but i do have a sensitivity to it sometimes, so fair warning. i love Alpaca *hint hint* and silk. Pretty much I love anything natural (soy included). Not a big fan of acrylic yarns, though they do have their place. After all, once the world explodes we'll need some yarn to knit sweaters for the cockroaches. :)
2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in? Whatever is handy. Right now it's in the interchangeable needle case, and the crochet hook case, and balls of yarn with their projects, a box, a bag, and a pocket in my purse, for the ones I don't want the hubby finding.
3. How long have you been knitting & how did you learn? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced? Been knitting for 12 years, learned from a teacher in high school. Would consider myself advanced
4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list? Not online, but if you email for suggestions I can always give them. I work in a bookstore and get a good discount so I usually don't have a want list for books.
5. What's your favorite scent? NOT COFFEE. Sowwy, work in a coffee shop. I usually don't wear scents, but I like cinnamon, and citrus scents for around the house. And generally those "waterfall" and "ocean breeze" ones. If you go to the Body shop they have an oil called Oceanaus, I love that scent. Clean smells, with not a lot of notes.
6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy? Heck yeah. Chocolate, the darker the better. you'll win my heart with 70% cacao chocolate. But red licorice, suckers (watermelon and strawberry). peanut M&M's, snickers. Those are all the favorites.
7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin? Knit, crochet, spin, weave, tat (needle, not shuttle), some basket weaving. Some sewing of renaissance costumes.
8. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD) Anything but rap and gospel. Yes, and yes (have an Ipod and a phone that plays them too.)
9. What's your favorite color(s)? Any colors you just can't stand? I love blues and greens, and deep dark reds that aren't too blue. Not a big fan of yellow or orange, and the only pink I like is a dusky rose color.
10. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets? Have the hubby (J) and bairn (Scott) and we're about to leave the aunts house and get our own apartment. No pets, the kid follows me around like a puppy dog anyway, so it's good.
11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos? Yes, Yes, sometimes, hell no
12. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit? Shawls, baby things, scarves, toys
13. What are you knitting right now? baby presents for a friend at work. And the sweater below this post
14. Do you like to receive handmade gifts? Hell yes!!! I love handmade gifts
15. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic? circular. I never use straights, I lose them. metal are best, unless I'm using Dp's, than bamboo or metal. I really like the new Knitpicks Options needles. I have them in size 2 already. I plan on getting a full set of the changeable ones with the tax refund.
16. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift? No, and no *sniff*
17. How old is your oldest UFO? 4 years
18. What is your favorite holiday? Halloween, and whatever excuse I can come up with
19. Is there anything that you collect? Rubber ducks, doilies, yarn, patterns, needles, dust, friends :)
20. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have? No subscriptions. See above on books. same with needles. Patterns are always a changing item. please just ask, it's easier.

I must be crazy
Ok, I must be totally insane. I am knitting a sweater. No, not a sweater, but a f***-ing amazing sweater. If anyone has the book Domiknitrix, by Jennifer Stafford, look in the back. See that pattern that's not even there? Elfin Goth. For those who don't have it, go here. Go ahead, I'll wait.
Did you see it. Did you love it? Did you take one look and say not a chance, I value what sanity I have left? Well, I did, I did, and I must not, because right now I'm un-plying yarn. Yes, that's not plying, that's un-plying. I'm taking those big honking cones of Peaches and Cream cotton yarn that you see at Wal-Mart, those only really good for dishcloths, and separating the sets of 4 plys in to 2 of 2 plys. It's a long and boring process, but something I can do when the migraine flares up into the Marine Corps Marching Band. (side note, I had an MRI on Tuesday, and I see neurologists on Monday, maybe they'll figure out what the hell is going on). Please note, for a small I need almost 1,200 yards of this stuff, and there's about 850 on the cone, so I can get almost 1,700 yards of dk weight cotton for 6 bucks and some tv watching time. not too shabby.
I knitted up a *GULP* swatch with my yarn, and on size 4 needles it'll work just fine. I promise to post pictures ASAP, and will keep you all informed of my hair pulling out status. It should help that we're moving into our own apartment when the IRS check gets here. I gotta say, get married, have a kid, and move cross-country all in one year, you'll get one heck of a nice refund back. It'll be here by the 6th of March according to the IRS, and they usually don't lie about that. Than Sushi here we come, and new apartment here we come (via IKEA cause we have NO furniture).

Pattern complaint
Ok, if patterns are published or posted, and they say that they've been tested, you would expect that they don't have many problems. The pattern I used to make my SP9 partner her birthday present, a circular shawl in a feather and fan lace pattern, really doesn't have a problem in the pattern, but she might have mentioned that it cups! I used a fingering weight cotton yarn on size 5 needles (one bigger than normal cause it's cotton and has no give) and the bleeping thing cups. I soooo don't want to remake this, but I just might have to if I can't block it flat. Maybe it's the cotton, but I hope not.
I'll post pictures after I dye it and block it to within an inch of it's little organic life.

Fianlly pictures
I'm finally getting pictures posted of all the goodies my Secret pal Natasha sent me. Explanations of the items will be included.
Above we have magazines she sent away for for me, from GERMANY!! They both have beautiful lace designs and I love them, already working on one, will post as it goes
These are hand dyed rovings she made for me, from buttery soft merino wool. I'm spinning the orange one right now, and it's looking like spun copper, so beautiful. There's about 3 to 4 oz of each. but more of the pastel rainbow in the back.
Lovely soft merino fingering weight wool, in such beautiful colors. Haven't decided what to make yet, but I have an idea. The purple poppy is hand made by Natasha as well.
Last, but not least by any means, some hand spun /hand dyes yarns. The one in the back is from a farm in Wisconsin, but the others are hers. Both of the greens are singles of a sport weight nature, thinking scarfs for them. The wheel is wool, and the twist is an apalca blend, if I remember correctly. The multi-colored is a mohair blend, sooooo soft.
There was also a cinnamon candle and a bunch of 70% cocoa squares, which have long since been munched on.
